The award-winning vocal group RESONANCE ENSEMBLE presents a concert of vocal music by The Blacknificent 7, a collective of seven leading Black composers united in a mission of using music as a form of social activism, including JASMINE BARNES, DAMIEN GETER, JESSIE MONTGOMERY, SHAWN OKPEBHOLO, DAVE RAGLAND, CARLOS SIMON, and JOEL THOMPSON.
Conducted by KATHERINE FITZGIBBON and SHOHEI KOBAYASHI and curated by Geter, one of the concert’s centerpieces will be the Oregon premiere of Geter’s Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow, with Oregon Symphony principal cellist NANCY IVES and soprano soloist NICOLE GREENIDGE JOSEPH. Adding to the excitement is a world premiere by composer Dave Ragland, commissioned by Resonance Ensemble.
