Not Fade Away – Buddy Holly & Ritchie Valens Tribute presented by Joshua Josue
Joshua Josué presents a night of songs by Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and The Big Bopper to commemorate 66 years since the day the music died. On January 31, 2025, music enthusiasts will have the privilege of experiencing Joshua’s heartfelt tribute firsthand. Taking center stage, Joshua and his band will skillfully render the timeless classics of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper. From the foot-tapping rhythms of “La Bamba” to the infectious energy of “That’ll be The Day” and the soulful ballad, “Donna,” Joshua’s performance promises to be a captivating journey through the golden era of rock and roll. But the magic doesn’t stop there. In addition to the chart-toppers, Joshua will delve into the lesser-known treasures of Ritchie Valens’ repertoire, treating the audience to gems like “Ritchie’s Blues” and the enchanting “Malagueña.” These selections shine a light on the depth and versatility of the Chicano musical tradition. This is more than just a performance; it’s a celebration of rock ‘n’ roll history and the Chicano heritage, and a fusion of cultural richness and artistic expression. Through Joshua’s soulful renditions, he not only pays homage to the musical greats but also leaves an indelible mark on the tapestry of Chicano musical history. With local blues guitar hero Ben Rice, bassist Keith McCarthy, and drummer Vince Adamé, Joshua brings to life the music that inspired him and a generation of guitar bands. Nearly Dan
The demands of the music of Steely Dan are high, both in technical proficiency and in preserving the sarcastic, knowing attitude originally conceived. Nearly Dan excels on both fronts, fusing together the chops of 12 diversely-talented artists (with backgrounds in jazz, rock, R&B, country, and swing) into a veritable butcher’s shop window of precisely cut bass lines; surgical, highly reminiscent guitar solos; a biting yet sophisticated horn section and richly marbled beats. Nearly Dan coolly presents their own arrangements of those masterpiece compositions such as the bouncing “Reelin’ In the Years,” the sorrowful, karmic circularity of “Do It Again,” or the funny but mortified “Peg.” Satiate your hunger for music with depth when Nearly Dan takes the stage. The 12 members of Nearly Dan have shared the stage with celebrities of world renown, such as Stevie Wonder, Sammy Davis Jr., Ray Charles, Lou Rawls, the Four Tops, the Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Johnny Mathis, Olivia Newton John, Huey Lewis, Tower Of Power, Tito Puente, Natalie Cole and Gladys Knight. “You are AMAZING!!! My mouth hurt from smiling so much throughout your entire show!!” – Francine T. “I was BLOWN AWAY. I was amazed a band could capture Steely Dan’s smooth energy and sound so flawlessly. I found myself thinking after listening to Home at Last and a few other songs, “whoever manages these arrangements has to be a perfectionist”…. – Rachel J. “Saw your show last night and was absolutely blown away!! Not only the extraordinary musicianship but the interaction among the band members and the crowd was just flat out remarkable.” …. – TL McD. “Absolutely stunning. Y’all cover the songs, but you are not a cover band. True to the original, but with a fresh twist.” …. – Boyd and Lara J. “Great show by Nearly Dan tonight! It’s not every band that will bring tears to your eyes because of how good they are.”…. – April W. Tickets: $30 Advance$40 At the DoorMinors ok when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tony Starlight’s Neil Diamond Experience – Hot August Night
Tony Starlight shall Neil before thee! Tony Starlight’s wildly popular Neil Diamond Experience is back this October with a special tribute to Neil Diamond’s classic double-live album Hot August Night. WHY IS HOT AUGUST NIGHT SO IMPORTANT? Any great concert performance elevates the source material. Most concerts today are a visual medium and although they might put on a great stage production with dancers, explosions and video screens, you’d never listen to the concert independently because its basically indistinguishable from the recordings (or IS the recordings!) From the first song on Hot August Night, “Crunchy Granola Suite”, the music is the star and the live versions unanimously outshine the original recordings. The emotion of performing to and connecting with a live audience is a special gift that not all artists have. Hot August Night captures Neil at just the right time, where he has a writing and performing history that makes him professional, but he is not yet an icon caught in the trappings of fame and fortune. There’s a hunger and urgency to the performance that it is rare to capture on tape.Neil Diamond is one of the few elite artists like Frank Sinatra, Elton John and The Beatles who transcend generations. Three or four generations can come to a concert and each can connect to the music on their own terms. Neil Diamond’s music unites people from multiple generations. The Tony Starlight Neil Diamond Experience differs from similar tributes in 3 key ways:1) Musically it is a faithful rendition of Neil in his heyday with no prerecorded tracks. Tony’s Neil voice is spot on, in both tone and inflection. Hear for yourself. 2) The show doesn’t take itself too seriously. Tony is a musical comedian, so the show is a fun mix of music and comedy. And sing-a-long! 3) It is in a seated concert setting, NOT a “stand-like-sardines-for-two-hours-in-a-venue-that-thinks-all-you-want-to-hear-is-drums-and-bass.” Tony Starlight: Vocals and guitarCraig Bidondo: PianoFrank DiGiovanni: KeyboardsNick O’Donnell: GuitarDennis Caiazza: BassBarbara Ayars: VocalsThea Enos: Vocals Tickets$35 General Admission$45 At the Door$50 Preferred Seating – SOLD OUT Minors ok with Parent or Guardian Review our venue FAQ here
Tony Starlight’s AM Gold Seventies Soft Rock Experience
Why Seventies Soft Rock? “The radio was the soundtrack to the 1970s, the era in which I grew up.” “Not every radio had FM capabilities, especially in cars. The AM dial was played in stores and restaurants and in the Country Squire Station Wagon that I rode in, sans seat belts. I absorbed these songs and they are a part of me. A few lines of “Rocket Man” and I’m taken back to a time of polyester, bell bottoms and Evel Knievel. We are always shocked at how the audience seems to know all the words to every song in our playlist. To hear the crowd sing “even though we ain’t got money, I’m so in love with ya honey” or “give me the beat, boys, and free my soul, I wanna get lost in your rock ‘n’ roll and drift away” is magical. I’s like a big campfire sing-along, K-Tel style!” -Tony Starlight, AM Gold Seventies Soft Rock Show What started as a monthly Neil Diamond Tribute has grown into a soft rock explosion! Tony Starlight makes an evening out of performing songs from the stalwarts of the AM dial in the 1970s. Artists like Elton John, Neil Diamond, Carole King, Jim Croce, Little River Band, Carly Simon, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Barry Manilow and Billy Joel. One hit wonders like “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)”, “Dancin’ In The Moonlight”, “Welcome Back”, “Seasons In The Sun” and much, much more.
