“ALEJANDRA” – Flamenco Spain Arts & Culture Tour 2022

Alejandra is a personal and intimate work of music where memories reverberate within the flamenco themes that José Almarcha develops. Behind each note there are glimpses into his interior, his personal history, his roots, and his identity. The result is an ideogram through musical sounds that evoke important memories, places, experiences, and people who left an imprint on him, and that are part of the DNA that comprises his identity.   Dedicated to the mother of guitarist, José Almarcha, who hails from La Mancha, Spain. The sudden and unexpected loss of his mother was instrumental in changing the way Mr. Almarcha composes and interprets Flamenco. Presented by Flamenco Spain Arts and Culture, FECACE, and Espacio Flamenco Portland.    José Almarcha – Musical Director and Flamenco GuitaristLucía Ruibal – Choreographer and Flamenco DancerMaría López – Flamenco SingerFernando Clemente – Flamenco ViolinistEpi Pacheco – Flamenco Percussionist Begoña Fernández Pellicer – Production   FLAMENCO SPAIN Arts and Culture was born after the closure of the Casa Patas Foundation, which Begoña Fernández directed since 2006. Even though we have dropped the requirement for masks to be worn in the theater, the Oregon Health Authority still recommends masking for people at higher risk from COVID-19, including unvaccinated people and immunocompromised people. Our staff will continue to wear masks and we highly encourage all customers to wear one as well. While vaccines do not prevent individuals from contracting COVID, they are proven to be effective in greatly reducing the risk of severe illness, speeding up recovery and reducing downtime. We strongly recommend our guests be vaccinated and up to date on boosters and evaluate their own health situation prior to attending an event. Please do not attend the show if you are feeling sick in any way. This information is provided so each patron can make a well-informed decision based on their own personal comfort level.
