Their recording career took off with 1988’s groundbreaking Tears of Joy. Now, 13 albums later, they have toured the world incessantly as a duo, appearing at times alongside Miles Davis, Count Basie, George Benson, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and many others. They have long been regarded by musicians and critics as the standard for an improvising musical duo. Their music spans Duke Ellington, the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix–rock, pop, jazz, gospel, blues, folk, world and classical–classics and originals, but inevitably finally just sounds like Tuck & Patti. Join Myrrh Larsen for a special early-access peek at their upcoming multidisciplinary narrative rock show At The End of Everything. Showcasing six breathtaking circus and dance pieces performed to a live musical set, we follow the storylines of three classic fairy tales from the perspective of the characters within them, brought to life through all new original songs featuring Myrrh Larsen and their band. Including narration by Madame D’Aulnoy (Megan Skye Hale – Speculative Drama, Vespertine Ball) guides us through this one-hour set combining spectacle, song, and storytelling to grapple with themes of transformation, loss, and the meaning of “endings”. Afterward, accompany Madame D’Aulnoy to her private parlour for an evening salon of fairy tales, fantasies, and a feast of flesh! Taking the stage for a series of readings and burlesque performances following Lacy Knightly’s award winning Booklover’s Burlesque format, this sparkling afterparty of storybook magic highlights the work and life of Madame D’Aulnoy – a predecessor to Perrault whose literary and folk tale salons paved the way for generations of folklorists and fairy tale authors to come.
