Tinsley Ellis with special guest Anne Weiss

“An exciting, emotional guitarist and a strong, evocative songwriter…One of modern blues’ greatest performers.” –Vintage Guitar   “A legend of American blues music…An American music treasure…Ellis delivers a sermon on the power and glory of the blues.” –Premier Guitar   “Powerful, spine-tingling guitar and gritty, soulful vocals.” –Relix   According to Atlanta-based blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Tinsley Ellis, his new, first-ever solo acoustic album, Naked Truth, is both “a departure and an arrival.” Ellis has been recording and travelling the world for over four decades, delivering his feral, guitar-fueled, original electric blues-rock to ever-growing audiences at concert halls, festivals, and clubs. Naked Truth is steeped in the folk blues traditions of Muddy Waters, Skip James, Son House, Robert Johnson and even Leo Kottke. To the casual fan, this might seem to be a new direction, but for Ellis, it’s an extension of his music, as he taps into the raw essence of the blues. “This is a record I’ve always wanted to make, and one that my longtime fans have been asking for,” he says, noting he’s included an acoustic mini-set in his concert performances for years.    Local legend Curtis Salgado will sit in with Tinsley on a few blues songs.   Portland folk/blues singer songwriter Anne Weiss opens the show with a solo set. The Stinkfoot Orchestra – Frank Zappa Tribute featuring Ray White

Employing a 6-piece horn section, tuned percussion and 4 vocalists, this ensemble pulls no punches – delivering the intricacies and eccentricities of Frank’s music with power, authenticity and musical prowess. That said, no Zappa concert would be complete without a healthy dose of Frank’s sardonic wit – and the Stinkfoot Orchestra does not skimp on this vital ingredient. Incorporating props, costumes, stage vignettes and audience participation, the band goes the extra mile with every performance to create a complete entertainment experience that leaves even the pickiest Zappa fan pining for more.If you were able to catch one of their previous performances in Portland, you know to expect a different show each time (and you also know what an amazing show to expect). “The Stinkfoot Orchestra… admirably delivered all the musical virtuosity, compositional non-conformity, and satire of American culture that Frank Zappa distilled within his extensive oeuvre. The impression left upon driving home from this experience was one of deep appreciation mixed with laughter and amazement.” – Ted Silverman, Jambase Tickets$25 Advance$30 At the DoorMinors ok with parent/guardianReview our Health & Safety Policies HERE

Rizo & Making Movies – FUN HOUSE TOUR with special guest Lilo Sanchez

Rizo:The New York Times once referred to Rizo as “SENSATIONAL… A fierce but kindhearted fusion of comedy, burlesque, performance art, and rock ‘n’ roll.” Taking a cue from Piaf, Rizo (né Amelia Zirin-Brown) fully embraces the role of chanteuse. In recordings, she is a mysterious figure, a siren ushering you through tableaus of heartbreak, lust, and the murkiness in between. Live, she is an eyeful.    An international cult favorite, her stage shows bring her powerhouse vocals together with seductive storytelling and wild hilarious audience experiments.  Rizo is a provocateur with an electric wit, and has been called a “diva par excellence” by The Guardian. In the studio she has collaborated with Moby, Reggie Watts, and Yo-Yo Ma; whose album Songs of Joy & Peace, which features Rizo, won a Grammy Award.   Rizo has also received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Time Out London theater award, and a London Cabaret Award. Rizo recently starred in the role of Madame Zinzanni in the revival of the much beloved Teatro ZinZanni and is in development for a television project with Michael Carbonaro of the popular series “The Carbonaro Effect.”   Making Movies:Founded by Enrique Chi—a songwriter, musician, filmmaker, and activist—the Latin Grammy-nominated Making Movies serves as the primary platform for Chi’s creative mission. Rooted in the rich traditions of Panamá, a crisol de razas, the band’s sound is an embodiment of those diverse cultures, offering listeners a unique experience that feels both extraordinary and familiar. Described by NPR as “Perhaps one of the most unique groups around today, Making Movies is sensual, smoky, and seductive.” The band’s accomplishments include collaborations with legendary artists like Rubén Blades, performances at major international festivals, and tours with notable acts such as Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Las Cafeteras, and Flor De Toloache. Chi is also producing AMERI’KANA TV, a National Endowment for the Arts-funded documentary series that explores an alternate history of American music, continuing their mission to inspire and educate. Their next studio album is set to be released in early 2025.   The band is committed to representing their mixed identity of Black and Latino culture and has been a vocal influence in the national health conversation around music as medicine.
