Lene Lovich with special guest STAHV

Lene Lovich takes a night off from her national tour opening for The B52’s and DEVO to play a show at the Alberta Rose.  Don’t miss this underground legend!   Detroit-born legendary post-punk pop singer Lene Lovich hit the top of the UK charts with her single “Lucky Number” in 1979, and was crowned the “Queen of Quirk”, influencing a generation of pop and alternative acts, from Nina Hagen to Boy George, and from Madonna to Dresden Dolls. A normally reclusive figure, Lovich turned her back on the limelight after her third album No Man’s Land was released in 1982 amid disagreements with her record company about her unwillingness to compromise her groundbreaking visual style for the then newly emergent MTV. Subsequently she has recorded only two albums in the last thirty years.   Lovich’s unique vocal and visual style, along with her catchy but experimental songwriting, has exerted a huge influence over alternative pop culture and garnered her many plaudits and continued interest. She has been described as everything from “Kate Bush on acid” to “the New Wave Maria Callas”. Her hits “Lucky Number”, “Say When”, “Bird Song” and “New Toy” are still regular features in the clubs and radio of Europe, Japan, Australia and the USA.    Seattle solo artist STAVH opens the show.     Minors ok when accompanied by a parent or guardian.    Review our venue FAQ here   ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Alberta Rose New Year’s Eve featuring GRATEFUL BRASS and more!

Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Wait, actually keep them open and keep reading, but imagine in your minds eye an alternate reality in which Jerry, Bobby and Phil came up as horn players instead of guitarists…   Grateful Brass reimagines the iconic music of the Grateful Dead with an instrumentation of brass, drums and vocals (no guitar!). The music digs deep into the Grateful Dead discography with creative re-imaginations infused with the ebullient spirit of New Orleans Second Line, trance-like grooves of Afrobeat, brass-driven energy of Balkan music, and energetic Afro-Cuban polyrhythms, all sitting on top of a heavy foundation of funk.   Grateful Brass is led by Adam Theis who is a current member of The Wolf Pack with Bob Weir & Wolf Bros and whose arrangements are featured in their live shows, as well as two Bob Weir albums released in 2022 (“Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live in Colorado” and “Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live in Colorado Vol. 2”).   Some of the finest musicians on the West Coast have joined Theis in creating this newest offshoot of the Bay Area music collective Jazz Mafia; many who have long collaborated with other artists in the Grateful Dead community like Mickey Hart, Joe Russo’s Ain’t Dead Yet, Peter Rowan, Reed Mathis, Jackie Greene, and Cold Blood.   Grateful Brass embraces the challenge of carrying on a 50+ year tradition of imagination, creativity, and groovy improvisatory adventures. This loving homage will make you fall in love with Grateful Dead’s music all over again, or for the first time.   Performers include: Erin Honeywell – vocalsAdam Theis – trombone/bandleaderRoss Eustis – trumpetRichard Benitez – trumpetTommy Occhiuto – saxDan Zemelman – keysJonathan Seiberlich – tubaHenry Plumb – drums   AGES 21+   THIS IS PARTIALLY-SEATED SHOW, SO YOU CAN DANCE!   Review our venue FAQ here   ALL SALES ARE FINAL. The Stinkfoot Orchestra – Frank Zappa Tribute featuring Napoleon Murphy Brock

The Stinkfoot Orchestra, featuring the legendary Napoleon Murphy Brock, return to the Alberta Rose! This critically acclaimed act has been leaving it’s mark up and down the west coast since the summer of 2022 – delighting existing fans of Frank Zappa’s music and turning on an entirely new generation to the musical complexity, biting social commentary and humorous musings of one of the 20th century’s most prolific composers.   Supported by an onslaught of 6 horns, tuned percussion and 4 vocalists, Brock brings his unparalleled energy and charisma to the stage with every show. Together, the ensemble delivers a performance that spans more than 3 decades of Zappa’s music, pulling material from early Mothers of Invention through the late 1980’s, and presents the music with power, authenticity and musical prowess – all served with a healthy dose of humorous stage antics. There is no greater testament to the respect that SFO have garnered than the number of Zappa alumni who have shown the band their support and encouragement. Arthur Barrow, Ray White, Bruce Fowler, Ike Willis and Lisa Popeil are just a few of those who have shared the stage with the band since their inception – all of whom come away with the same reaction. In a recent radio interview with Zappa’s prolific trombonist of 3 decades, Bruce Fowler, the horn player simplified his thoughts on the band to 3 words “They get it…”   Minors ok with parent/guardian   Review our venue FAQ here   ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
