Double Release! Red Bird releases an album, The Colin Trio releases a single. What do Red Bird and The Colin Trio have in common? They are both female-fronted groups that can’t be pinned down. Their original music dances in and out of soul, jazz, funk, Americana, rock, roots and the blues. They are packed with musical talent nurtured by years of experience and a deep passion for the craft. And we will say it, both groups are fun as hell! Join us for this very special night where both bands are releasing new music – Red Bird releasing a new album and The Colin Trio releasing a new single. This show is part of Portland Music Month and $1 from your ticket purchase goes directly to Music Portland to support their work in the community.$15 GA Advance$19 GA At the Door$25 Admission + signed Red Bird CD$32 Admission + signed Red Bird CD and signed Colin Trio lyric sheet ~More About Red Bird~ Red Bird is a wildly soulful band that communicates through powerhouse vocals and mind-bending guitar features. Their sound has been described as “unabashedly soulful with elements of blues and roots” by Vortex Magazine, and Good Day Oregon compares them to an impressive list of artists including Bonnie Raitt and Joss Stone. Their new album, Live It All, is their first full-length album, which they made with the help of engineer Justin Phelps (Cake, The Mars Volta) and The Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon. The album features the keys work of Steve Swatkins (Allen Stone, Excellent Gentleman and Steve Swatkins and the Positive Agenda) and Sydney Nash (TK & The Holy Know-Nothings) giving the band’s sound a fresh new life they are excited to release into the world.   ~More About The Colin Trio~ Less of a trio and more of a triple-headed hydra roving through an alluring array of genre-blending styles, The Colin Trio is anything but typical. Named after lead singer, guitarist, pianist, Colin Hogan, listeners would be hard-pressed to name any specific member of the trio as lead.  Whether it’s Colin’s knack for slipping in and out of musical eras, or bassist Brian Link’s adeptness with any groove, or drummer Cheo Larcombe’s ability to start at the flick of a match. Watching The Colin Trio perform live is akin to three improvisational masters besting one another at every turn between a cavalcade of rock, soul, jazz, funk and the blues.Working with producer Tim Karplus, their upcoming single, Breakable explores new sounds and a different approach to building a song.  PORTLAND MUSIC MONTH – This Venue is proud to participate in the 2023 2nd Annual Portland Music Month. Tim O’Brien with Jan Fabricius

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1954, Grammy winning singer songwriter and multi- instrumentalist Tim O’Brien grew up singing in church and in school. After seeing Doc Watson on TV, became a lifelong devotee of old time and bluegrass music. Tim started touring nationally in 1978 with Colorado bluegrass band Hot Rize. His songs “Walk the Way the Wind Blows” and “Untold Stories” were bluegrass hits for Hot Rize, and country hits for Kathy Mattea. Soon more artists like Nickel Creek, Garth Brooks, and The Dixie Chicks covered his songs. Over the years, Tim has collaborated with his sister Mollie O’Brien, songwriter Darrell Scott, and noted old time musician Dirk Powell, as well as with Steve Earle, Mark Knopfler, Dan Auerbach and Sturgill Simpson. Living in Nashville since 1996, O’Brien’s skills on guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo make him an in demand session player. He tours throughout the US and abroad, most often with his partner Jan Fabricius on mandolin and vocals. His regular band includes Fabricius along with Mike Bub (bass) and Shad Cobb (fiddle). The International Bluegrass Music Association awarded him song of the year in 2006 and named him best male vocalist in 1993 and 2006. He was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2013. $30 Advance$40 At the Door Minors ok when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Review our Health & Safety Policies HERE

An Evening with Darrell Scott

Darrell Scott comes from a musical family with a father who had him smitten with guitars by the age of 4, alongside a brother who played Jerry Reed style as well. From there, things only ramped up with literature and poetry endeavors while a student at Tufts University, along with playing his way through life. This would never change.  After recently touring with Robert Plant and the Zac Brown Band (2 years with each), and producing albums for Malcolm Holcomb and Guy Clark and being named “songwriter of the year” for both ASCAP and NSAI, these days find him roaming his Tennessee wilderness acreage hiking along the small river, creating delicious meals with food raised on his property and playing music. He often leads songwriting workshops to help people tell their own truths with their stories, and is as busy as always writing, producing, performing, and just plain fully immersing himself in life.  $34 Advance$42 At the Door Minors ok when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
