Red Bird + The Colin Trio Music Release Party

Double Release! Red Bird releases an album, The Colin Trio releases a single. What do Red Bird and The Colin Trio have in common? They are both female-fronted groups that can’t be pinned down. Their original music dances in and out of soul, jazz, funk, Americana, rock, roots and the blues. They are packed with musical talent nurtured by years of experience and a deep passion for the craft. And we will say it, both groups are fun as hell! Join us for this very special night where both bands are releasing new music – Red Bird releasing a new album and The Colin Trio releasing a new single. This show is part of Portland Music Month and $1 from your ticket purchase goes directly to Music Portland to support their work in the community.$15 GA Advance$19 GA At the Door$25 Admission + signed Red Bird CD$32 Admission + signed Red Bird CD and signed Colin Trio lyric sheet ~More About Red Bird~ Red Bird is a wildly soulful band that communicates through powerhouse vocals and mind-bending guitar features. Their sound has been described as “unabashedly soulful with elements of blues and roots” by Vortex Magazine, and Good Day Oregon compares them to an impressive list of artists including Bonnie Raitt and Joss Stone. Their new album, Live It All, is their first full-length album, which they made with the help of engineer Justin Phelps (Cake, The Mars Volta) and The Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon. The album features the keys work of Steve Swatkins (Allen Stone, Excellent Gentleman and Steve Swatkins and the Positive Agenda) and Sydney Nash (TK & The Holy Know-Nothings) giving the band’s sound a fresh new life they are excited to release into the world.   ~More About The Colin Trio~ Less of a trio and more of a triple-headed hydra roving through an alluring array of genre-blending styles, The Colin Trio is anything but typical. Named after lead singer, guitarist, pianist, Colin Hogan, listeners would be hard-pressed to name any specific member of the trio as lead.  Whether it’s Colin’s knack for slipping in and out of musical eras, or bassist Brian Link’s adeptness with any groove, or drummer Cheo Larcombe’s ability to start at the flick of a match. Watching The Colin Trio perform live is akin to three improvisational masters besting one another at every turn between a cavalcade of rock, soul, jazz, funk and the blues.Working with producer Tim Karplus, their upcoming single, Breakable explores new sounds and a different approach to building a song.  PORTLAND MUSIC MONTH – This Venue is proud to participate in the 2023 2nd Annual Portland Music Month. Morgan James

Let’s start with the voice, an instrument through which she can communicate anything. A gift bestowed upon her that she has expertly trained, meticulously nurtured, and passionately galvanized into action by an urgency to make real music. Next, the stories, and she has them in spades. They are full of truth and beauty, heartache and thoughtfulness. They reveal colors we weren’t expecting to see. They make us close our eyes and relate. And finally, the soul – the emotional and intellectual energy through which these parts are fueled. That special something that prompted The Wall Street Journal to herald her as “the most promising young vocalist to come along so far this century.” That young vocalist is Morgan James. And Morgan James is a soul singer. $25 General Admission $30 GA Day of Show$45 Preferred Seating (seating in the first 5 rows of the center section)$50 Preferred Seating Day of Show Presented by Emporium Fully vaccinated minors ok with parent/guardian COVID SAFETY POLICY: All ticket holders are required to show proof of full COVID vaccination.
