Tracy Grammer

Tracy Grammer is one of the most beloved acts in contemporary folk music. Called “one of the finest pure musicians anywhere in folkdom,” (Boston Globe), she has performed on coffeehouse, theater, and festival stages since 1997, and has been a guest on Mountain Stage, World Cafe, River City Folk, SiriusXM Radio, and Folk Alley. With pristine fingerstyle guitar, percussive strums, dynamic vocals, and incantatory narratives, Tracy delivers a polished, personal show notable for its melodies, heart-forward content, and engaging, authentic delivery. It’s often the case at the end of the show that audiences can’t decide which moved them more — the songs, or the stories behind them. Tracy’s journey in music has been marked by both tragedy and triumph. In 2002, then-duo partner and songwriter Dave Carter died suddenly while on tour. Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer, heralded as “the new voice of folk music” by the Associated Press, was riding high on the success of their third album, DRUM HAT BUDDHA, and had just finished a five-week bus tour with Joan Baez as featured artists and Baez’s band mates. Tracy’s determination and grace in the wake of unfathomable loss, and her transparency as she gained her footing as a solo artist, have earned her a devoted, lifelong following, who see her concerts as nothing less than a celebration of courage, bravery, vulnerability, and love. As one fan puts it, “With Tracy, it’s not just about the music — it’s a soul journey.”The Alberta Rose is Tracy’s Portland home. Come welcome her back once more!Tickets:$25 Advance$30 At the Door Minors ok with parent/guardianReview our Health & Safety Policies HERE

Carolyn Wonderland
Carolyn Wonderland, with her dynamic guitar playing, formidable songwriting, and pure Texas vocals, has more than earned her reputation as a fiercely independent artist. Wonderland plays original, bluesified, cosmic soul music, mixed with heavy doses of Tex-Mex and riff-fueled rock ‘n’ roll. She has been performing professionally since the age of 15 and has led a colorful and adventurous life. On the road her entire career, she’s played with icons from Townes Van Zandt to Levon Helm, from Buddy Guy to Hubert Sumlin, from Bob Dylan to John Mayall, all while writing her own story. On her new Alligator Records album, Truth Is, Wonderland, with her vividly detailed, instantly memorable songs, reflects on the world with honesty and righteous conviction. Wonderland’s bold and insightful songs tell common-sense truths that, in her words, “need to be told.” They are driven by her sometimes savage and other times gently melodic guitar fingerpicking, along with her full-throated yet still vulnerable vocals. As for the album’s brutally honest subject matter, Wonderland says, “There’s always hope and we’re still here for each other, but at some point, you have to sing about the elephant in the room.” With Truth Is, Carolyn Wonderland stakes her claim among the most influential roots music voices today, delivering the blues’ honest truth to all who will listen. Her courageously empowering music packs an emotional wallop, with every track on the album performed with a rare intensity that is welcoming and ultimately uplifting. “She’s something else,” Bob Dylan once said to Ray Benson. “She should be nationwide.” Tickets:$28 Advance$35 At the Door Minors ok with parent/guardianReview our venue FAQ here
