What started out as a joke in 1993 at Mark’s Hawthorne Pub, will now be a joke in 2023 at Alberta Rose Theatre! Join Tony Starlight and his amazing band to help celebrate thirty years in show business. This show will be a little bit of everything Tony has performed over his career. From his early days as a lounge singer, to his years as the owner of Tony Starlight’s Supperclub and Lounge and Tony Starlight Showroom, to performing in packed theaters, this promises to be a glorious retrospective of a very strange career. It’s a Tony Starlight Christmas – Matinée and Live Stream

“It’s a Tony Starlight Christmas” has been a Portland holiday tradition for the last fifteen years, and this December it is being performed exclusively on the stage of Alberta Rose Theatre. Tony’s Christmas show is a throwback to classic television variety shows when legends like Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, and Frank Sinatra sang songs and spread holiday cheer far and wide. You couldn’t help but feel the warmth and glow of the season. “It’s a Tony Starlight Christmas” brings back these uplifting holiday traditions and puts a fresh, comedic spin on them.   Tony and his magnificent band also perform songs from such holiday specials as Scrooge and several tunes from the Rankin and Bass animated television specials from the sixties. No other show has such a variety of Christmas Classics! Louis Michot with special guest The Swamp Thang Trio

Louis Michot is best known as the fiddle player and lead-singer for the Grammy award winning Lost Bayou Ramblers, but his passion for Louisiana French and local folklore, and sustainability in the fastest disappearing landmass in the world are what fuels his career as a musician. With over 20 LPs under his belt, his music career continues to push the boundaries of the Louisiana French music traditions. Louis was named Louisianian of the Year in 2020 along with his brother Andre, and their band Lost Bayou Ramblers was named Entertainers of the Year by New Orleans’ Big Easy Awards in 2019.  2017 brought the Lost Bayou Ramblers’ first Grammy award for their 8th LP release, Kalenda, and 2019 marked the bands 20th anniversary along with a live album release “Asteur” and a documentary aired internationally on TV5 Monde, “On Va Continuer”. In 2012 Louis’ violin and vocal work was the main feature for score of the Oscar nominated film Beasts of the Southern Wild, and that same year the band’s 6th release, “Mammoth Waltz” was named 2nd most important Louisiana album of the 21st century by nola.com and won New Orleans’ Best of the Beat Award.   The Swamp Thang Trio includes Jennifer Smieja, Mike Danner and Jesse Young, of the Portland band, Swamp Thang.  The trio will open the show!
