Our event is a one-of-a-kind sensual literary weekend celebration of two uniquely different, open-themed BOOKLOVER’S BURLESQUE shows that highlight a mix of ANY & ALL GENRES of the written word matched with burlesque, boylesque, and draglesque artists chosen from around the country and the world! Each night on April 10th and 11th, we will feature different world-renowned “Guest of Honor” performing artists and authors, professional actors/readers, and specially-curated burlesque, boylesque, and draglesque acts chosen for our festival. And just as a library is an eclectic mix of books, our festival shall also celebrate an eclectic mix of all types of writing matched with all types of performers. Our shows are sex/body/queer positive, feminist, and inclusive to all! Come join us for one or BOTH nights of our 4th annual special international event happening on April 10th and 11th at Alberta Rose Theatre! Our History: BOOKLOVER’S BURLESQUE, produced by Lacy Knightly/Nick Lacy of Lacy Productions, is the world’s sexiest literary salon which matches titillating, inspiring, and/or empowering book readings with burlesque, boylesque, or draglesque performances. Calling all Ear Hustlers! Join Nigel Poor and Earlonne Woods, co-hosts and co-creators of the acclaimed podcast, live on stage as they share stories from inside and outside prison, accompanied by musical performances and never-before-seen visuals. Ear Hustle launched in 2017 as the first podcast created and produced in prison — featuring stories of the daily realities of life inside California’s San Quentin State Prison, shared by those living it. Hosts Nigel Poor and Earlonne Woods launched the podcast when Earlonne was incarcerated at San Quentin. In 2018, Earlonne’s sentence was commuted and he was released. He received a pardon in 2024. Ear Hustle has expanded to include voices and stories from other prisons, including two women’s prisons, as well as stories about what it’s like to get out and start over again on the outside. Ear Hustle stories are raw, often hilarious, and rarely what you’d expect to hear on a show about prison life. In 2020, Ear Hustle was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in audio reporting — the first time the category was recognized — for bringing audiences “a consistently surprising and beautifully crafted series on life behind bars.” In 2021, Ear Hustle received an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for “shattering the myths about serving time and what happens afterwards.” In 2024, Ear Hustle won the Best Audio Documentary award from the International Documentary Association.
